Meet the Team

THE ADMISSIONS SENIOR INTERNS

Hello from the Senior Admission Interns! Every year the Undergraduate Admissions team gathers a group of seniors who are passionate and excited about Champlain College. We offer a variety of perspectives since we represent different majors, interests and backgrounds. During this academic year, we work closely with the counselors on the Undergraduate Admissions Team. You can find us greeting prospective students and families, answering their questions about the College, hosting Google Hangouts, and meeting with students one-on-one for informational interviews.

Michelle Garvey, Early Childhood/Elementary Education Major with a Minor in Foreign Languages (French, Spanish)

Hometown: Stonington, CT

Favorite place in Burlington: My favorite place in Burlington is Perkins Pier, especially at sunset! The view of the lake and mountains is extremely hard to beat.

Fun Fact: My knee has popped out 3 times in my life and every time it has been on stage while dancing.

What are you involved in on Campus?: I have danced a variety of styles since I was two years old so coming to school I wanted to get involved with the Champlain College Dance Team, three years later I am now one of the co-captains of the team. Additionally I am the campus representative for the National Education Association’s Vermont Student Program for Champlain College.

Bianca Roa, Marketing Major with a Specialization in Integrated Advertising

Hometown: Columbia, SC

Fun Fact: Halloween is my favorite holiday. Favorite costumes have included: Lilo from Lilo & Stitch, Yoko Ono, and one of those creepy porcelain dolls.

Favorite place in Burlington: Oakledge Park when it’s warm, or if it’s cold out Muddy Waters with a nice hot chai latte.

Campus involvements: One of my biggest on campus involvements is through my role as Vice President of Student Government Association, where we focus on advocating for student voices and needs. I also helped create the Stiller Women in Business, an empowerment organization that seeks to support women through professional development, and I now serve as Chairwoman.

Lamonte Gambrell Jr, Law Major

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

Fun Fact: I wasn’t able to ride a bike until I was 18 years old. After graduation we all went to my best friend’s house, and he told me that I had ride his little sister’s bike. It was pink with a barbie basket, at that time I was over 6 feet tall and the bike was made for someone 5 feet tall, so it was pretty hilarious. Sad part is I think he still has the videos.

Favorite place: Church Street in the summer.

What are you involved in on campus?: I’ve been involved in a few different things on campus. I’ve been a Resident Assistant for two years which was one of the most rewarding things that I have done since coming to Champlain. Also from the first day I stepped foot on campus, I became a big part of the Champlain College basketball scene. Whether it was the intramural season or just simply pick up basketball I was there 9 times out of 10. As well as that I am also very involved with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. There I’ve done mentoring work for incoming first year students, worked in camp-like programs which brought high school students to the school for a week, and worked briefly as a student employee.

Bessie McManus, Communications Major

Favorite place in Burlington: Bueno y Sano

Fun fact: Actor Luis Guzman lives in my home town!

Campus Involvements:  I am a mentor through Champ Guides to two first year students in the CCM Division. Champ Guides is a pilot program at Champlain, and I’m excited to be one of the first to test the waters!
