From exploring the city of Burlington to exploring campus, there is something new and exciting for Champlain students to immerse themselves in everyday! Don’t believe us? There are over 60 clubs and activities on our campus! Each club is unique in their own way and we know there is something of interest for every student that attends Champlain!
Here is a quick snapshot of a few of our clubs and activities on campus:
CHAMP students giving out free t-shirts during Champlain’s Spirit Week!
“CHAMP (Champlain Has Activities and Motivational Programming) is a student-run organization that plans and creates a number of notorious and beloved substance-free events on campus each semester. Each semester the group plans three large-scale programs for Champlain: Spirit Week, a Halloween event, and the Late Night Breakfast in the fall and the Snowball, Mr. Champlain and Spring Meltdown in the spring!”
—Marissa Laro, CHAMP President
The Cybersecurity Club is for anyone interested in computers and cybersecurity.
“The Cybersecurity Club invites people of all skill levels to our meetings. We go over topics such as lock picking, wargames, basics of Linux, and often have guest speakers from companies such as Stroz Friedberg, NSA, and Dell SecureWorks. What’s even more exciting is that the Cybersecurity Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year!”
—Mike Dargie, Member of the Cybersecurity Club
DREAM rooting on their mentee, Khloe, at her basketball game.
“DREAM is a nonprofit mentoring program. DREAM has had its programs on Champlain’s campus (the dining hall is a fan favorite), in a local community center and around Burlington. Every Friday afternoon, mentors from Champlain engage with mentees (ranging from 5-18-years-old) from Milton, Vermont. Pictured is last spring’s culminating event at Jay Peak (an indoor water park). This year, we’re DREAMin’ big and plan to take the group on an overnight trip to Boston!”
Often, mentors and mentees form a natural bond and are matched one-on-one. Communication and engagement outside DREAM’s Friday programs is encouraged, such as an after school trip to Ben & Jerry’s or Facebook Messenger basketball tournaments. Mentees look up to their mentors and anyone involved with DREAM—having people that they can rely on means the world to them. If you’re interested in making a difference in a child’s life and having tons of fun, the DREAM is the club for you!”

The Digital Forensics Association
Students at the 2016 Enfuse conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“The Digital Forensics Association is a club that is open to every student, but mainly consists of Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity majors. I have been a part of it since my first semester at Champlain. Over the years, they’ve had many events, including trivia nights, student discussions and professional talks. In the fall, the club brings in many professionals (usually ones who want to hire Champlain students!!) and speak with club members about their company, work, etc. Two years ago we had an FBI Agent come speak to us and then had dinner with a few students (myself included!)”
Last semester, we held a Capture-the-Flag event, which generated a lot of participation in the Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity majors—the participants spent a whole night trying to figure out answers to questions and find clues or ‘flags’ on a computer system. This was a huge hit, and the first place winner won a trip to a digital forensics conference this spring!”

Champlain College Dance Team

“Joining Champlain College’s Dance Team was one of the best decisions I made while at Champlain. Not only did was it an easy way to make friends with similar interests, it gave me an opportunity to both create and perform something I am passionate about.”
“Each year, this group comes together to inspire, support and work closely with one another. It quickly becomes a second family and a “home away from home”. I feel so lucky to be the team captain this year and collaborate with the coach, the fitness center and the Champlain community. I think I can speak for the whole team, as well as past team members, in saying it’s been an incredibly positive and fulfilling college experience!”
—Kara Doherty, Captain of the Champlain College Dance Team
